India signs MoU with the UK, Indonesia on co-operation in the energy sector

India and the UK will cooperate in the energy sector in areas such as market reforms, regulatory structures and the role of competition in the supply and distribution of electricity, including regulations and incentives for renewable energy deployment, the Indian government said.

It said in a statement that the areas of cooperation would include integration of renewable energy into the grid, offshore wind, solar and tidal energy, smart grids, energy storage and new technology and off-grid renewable energy services.

India has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indonesia to “encourage and promote technical bilateral cooperation on new and renewable energy issues on the basis of mutual benefit, equality and reciprocity”, according to the government of India.

Indonesia and India will focus on capacity building, exchange of scientific and technological information and data, transfer of technology on a non-commercial basis, development of joint research or technical projects on subjects of mutual interest, encouragement and promotion of investment and encouragement of policy dialogue, the release said.
