India’s November tea production rise slightly

India’s tea production in November rose rose 3.9 per cent from a year earlier to 106.88 million kg, led by higher pickings in the top tea-producing state of Assam, the Tea Board said in a statement.

It said tea production in Assam was up more than 17 percent to 56.73 million kg. The national output would have been higher if it was not for a fall of 18 percent to 16.5 million kgs in the southern Indian states.

Exports in the first 11 months of 2015 were up slightly at 1.53 percent at just over 192 million, but the overall value was down because of lower unit price that fell 3.49 percent, the Tea Board said.
