India’s horticulture production outpacing foodgrains output, government

India’s horticulture production has outpaced food grain production in the past three fiscals despite poor monsoon, unseasonal rains and hailstorms in major parts of the country, the junior minister for agriculture said.

Horticulture production rose 1.3 percent, but food grain output fell by nearly five percent year-on-year in 2014-15, Mohanbhai Kalyanjibhai Kundaria told parliament.
