India’s domestic natural gas production down 17 percent in March, government says

India’s natural gas production during March, 2016 was 2539.65 MMSCM, nearly 17 percent lower than the target for the month and 10.48 percent lower than the production during the corresponding period of last year, the government said in a statement.

It said cumulative natural gas production during April 2015-March 2016 was 32,249.21 MMSCM which was 8.5 percent lower than the target for the period and 4.18 percent lower than the production during corresponding period of last year.

ONGC’s natural gas production in March was 1642.76 MMSCM which was 21.44 percent lower than the target for the month and 12.14 percent lower than the production in the corresponding month last year, the statement added. It said ONGC’s cumulative natural gas production during April 2015-March 2016 was 21176.64 MMSCM, 11.42 percent lower than the cumulative target and 3.84 percent lower than the production during the corresponding period of last year.

OIL produced 253.68 MMSCM of natural gas in March, which was 0.76% lower than the target for the month and 9.31 percent higher than the production achieved in the corresponding month of last year. Its cumulative natural gas production during April 2015-March 2016 was 2837.94 MMSCM, down 5.72 percent lower than the cumulative target but 4.25 percent higher than the production during the corresponding period of last year, the statement added.

Private firms and joint ventures together produced 643.21 MMSCM in March, which was 8.05 percent lower than the target for the month and 12.53 percent lower than the production achieved in the corresponding month of last year.
